St. James Episcopal Church ~ Celebrating 70 Years

We Are Marching in the Light of God/Siyahamba

and this is performed by
East Parade Malayalam CSI Church Choir
in Festival of Harmony 2009.

St. James Episcopal Church, Austin, TX

celebrated its 70 year of service.

The Church was formed by a small group of 

African Americans on December 7, 1941.

"We Are Marching in the Light of God/Siyahamba"

is a signature song of St. James and we

sang it today in celebration of the 70th anniversary.

Let Us Break Bread Together

This morning I was reading this post

at the golden fish 

and looking at the photos

of the rising sun when the following song popped into my head.

With Thanksgiving fast approaching in the U.S.

this is a song for the occasion.

Let Us Bread Bread Together is an African-American hymn

that is often sung in the multi-cultural, multi-ethnic church

I sometimes attend in Austin.

The one word that comes to mind for me is serenity 

when I sing these words.

1. Let us break bread together on our knees,
