Texas Hill Country & the Willow City Loop

Topping a hill on the road between
Henley & Blanco, TX
one gets a spectacular view of the
beginning of the Texas Hill Country.

The purpose of this little trip is to make
the spectacular wildflower drive
along the Willow City Loop.

Tomorrow I'll put up a few shots of a garden
in Willow City, but now we shall
take the 13 mile drive along the Loop.

This drive is all on private property
and all are asked (warned) not to
stop on or along-side the road.

It is impossible not to stop when one sees the
spectacular sights of bluebonnets

tucked in amongst the rocks,

covering the hillsides,

settled in beside the streams,

and the cattle.
Fields of bluebonnets abound.

Lovely ranches with beautiful entrances
are along this route.

Iron gates, the Texas Lone Star,
bluebonnets, and live oaks
is what partially defines Texas.

The roadway with flowers in every direction.

More varieties of wildflowers.

It was a spectacular day with sights and smells galore!

Just driving along one can smell the incredible aroma
which I wish I could replicate here for you.

I hope you have enjoyed the journey one-tenth
as much as we did. Spring is beautiful!

AH! Bluebonnet season. Yay!!

Love all the pics. That landscape is so beautiful and so very very different than the midatlantic. Cool.
