Winter Visitors on My Street

Many of the states in the "sun belt" have people who move southward during the winter months to escape the frigid conditions in the northern states. In Texas we lovingly refer to those visitors as "Winter Texans". A great deal of the economy depends on these folks who come to visit from November to March typically.

Well in my neighborhood we have a slightly different variety of "winter Texans". Yes these are the hundreds of black-headed vultures that ride the air currents of our sky and roost in the tall pine trees in our "Village".

It may sound gross to think of these birds, but they truly are beautiful to see them soaring in the sky each morning and evening. They seem to leave during the day most likely going far & wide in search of their daily meal.
